Everyone loves a good scavenger hunt and it's the perfect activity for a top secret/detective birthday party theme.

  1. Divide the kids into groups of three or four.
  2. Give each group an offical-looking manila envelope with everything they need for the scavenger hunt. This includes a list of clues and a magnifying glass.
  3. Instead of getting one of each item, get several of each so that each team has the opportunity to find everything on their list—you can even make each list unique with specific clues so the groups don't overlap.
  4. When the teams return with all their items, they get a prize: lunch!

The items to hide will vary depending on the age of the children. For younger kids the items could include Silly Putty, box of crayons, yo-yo, jump rope, and a deck of cards. For older kids the items could include iTunes gift cards, baseball cards, hats, and candy.

Take the items from the scavenger hunt and put them into goody bags for the kids to take home!
