About
Dear Client,
I'd love to provide music for your event. Although I play concerts and record, I love playing for weddings and special events. I feel very fortunate to live in a country where I can make a good living as a musician and I appreciate all different types of work.
I’ve played for more than 300 weddings and hundreds more social, corporate and special events. My clients have included many of the leading families in the DFW area including the Perot. Dedman, Strauss, Rachofsky, Bass and Hunt families. I played for presidents of the USA and Mexico as well as members of the Spanish Royal Family. In addition to playing concerts on five continents, I studied with the legendary Spanish guitarist Andres Segovia in Spain. I have been "first call" at the Mansion on Turtle Creek, the Crescent Club, Crescent Hotel, and several other high-end venues.
The instrument and equipment I use are the best available. When I play for social events and weddings I use the same concert instrument I tour and record with. ($35,000 Greg Smallman concert guitar w/ an AER state of the art small sound system) There are videos and bio on my website linked below.
If possible, I like to visit with you briefly on the phone to get a better idea of exactly the right music for your event.
FOR CONCERTS, WEDDINGS, SPECIAL EVENTS: Although I've performed in prestigious halls and collaborated with many famous musicians I really enjoy making the music for your wedding or event perfect. As a soloist or bandleader, I'll provide the highest quality and professionalism. The musicians I choose for my various ensembles are hand picked from the best our area has to offer. I'll make sure everything is “just right” when your guests arrive. Many instrumental combinations are available and fees are competitive. Please visit ChristopherMcGuire.com for more information and sound samples.
I've performed hundreds of formal solo concerts in the United States, Mexico, Japan, Venezuela, Germany and Spain and have performed more than fifteen hundred informal performances in schools and other community venues in cities throughout North America, Spain and Japan. My direct influences are as varied as they come, ranging from private lessons with Segovia in Spain to jam sessions with Stevie Ray Vaughn. Until 2001 I was a faculty member of the University of Dallas and North Lake College in Irving. Here are some new comments from a couple of clients. I played recently for their dad's 90th birthday party at a retirement community. From Mary Ellen Penfold: "Chris, The halls of CC Young were ringing with our praises today -- Yours because you touched so many with your personable performance and mine and Dave's because we had the luck to book you! No kidding - I felt like a hero today at lunch-time with all the compliments about the party Saturday night. There is such a wealth of experiences and tastes there in the individual residents, that your performance was bound to strike a chord on many levels. I wish you could have heard the feedback. It was an extra pleasure to talk with you about Stevie Ray and Lou Ann. I am now having a flashback in youtube world. What a time it was. What talent!"
...and from her Brother Dave: "Hi Chris, We just loved having you with us yesterday. Mom and Dad couldn’t stop talking about how much they enjoyed it. Mary Ellen and I mentioned that we would have liked to have continued for another few hours! We knew we were getting a world class musician, but I don’t think either of us realized how personable and charming you were, and how the audience would love not only your music, but also your personality. Thanks again so much for helping to make Dad’s birthday something really unique and memorable!!" Dave
