Back to School Party Games

Need some inspired back to school games to get your kids ready to hit the books? There are plenty of back to school activities that you can do with your kids if you find that they are having trouble letting go of summer.

Take a look at the list below for a few back to school games for kids that will make them want to get back to the classroom right away:

  • Trivia: Play a fun game of trivia with your kids to help them get ready for class! Create different categories based off of school subjects such as Math and History. Write trivia questions on flash cards and take turns asking and answering questions. Additionally, make a “miscellaneous” category full of silly questions. See who can get the most right!
  • Gym class: Get a bunch of kids from around the neighborhood together for a game of gym class. This means that they’ll just a play a pickup game of any sport they would play in gym class, such as baseball or flag football. You can even create an obstacle course in your backyard for a mini “ropes course!”
  • School supply scavenger hunt: Set up a school supply scavenger hunt in your backyard for your kids! First, head to your local school supply store to buy some school supplies such as pencils, erasers, and binders. Then, while your kids are out, hide the supplies around your backyard and home. Make sure the hiding places aren’t too obvious, especially if you want to conceal a large item! Next, make a few clue cards that stealthily describe where each thing is hidden. When your kids get home, surprise them with this enjoyable scavenger hunt! Have them work together to retrieve the supplies.
  • Name that snack: For a game that’s messy and fun, have kids play a lunchtime guessing game. Blindfold kids and have them try to name each different kind of lunchtime food that they taste. Serve things like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Oreos, and juice boxes. Get as creative as you can! Award prizes for correct answers as well as for kids who have the strangest guesses!

This list of back to school party games will help you get started, but feel free to play whatever your kids will like at a back to school party. Just remember to have fun and get them in the school spirit!

These are also great games for a back to school party where kids meet each other for the first time. Play ice breakers such as the name game so that the kids can get to know each other before the start of the school year.
