Bridesmaids' Luncheon Ideas

Brainstorm thoughtful and creative bridesmaids’ luncheon ideas for the special ladies in your life. Send invitations for bridal luncheons a few weeks before the event or at the same time as the wedding invitations.

Here are a few bridal luncheon ideas to help you plan the perfect pre-wedding get-together:

  • Date: Plan the date of the bridesmaids’ luncheon based on the location of the bridesmaids. Consider whether or not any of the ladies will fly in from out-of-state. Hold the luncheon a day or two before the wedding if there are bridesmaids from out-of-state. Plan the luncheon for a few weeks before the wedding if the bridesmaids live in-state.
  • Venue: Select the venue based on whether the luncheon is formal and elegant or casual and laid back. Consider multiple locations for a bridesmaids’ luncheon such as a restaurant, function hall, or house. Pick a fancy restaurant or function hall for a formal bridal luncheon. Choose a casual restaurant or house for a laid back bridal luncheon. Be sure to make a reservation at a restaurant in advance of the luncheon. Hire a local caterer and party planner for a bridal shower at a house to take stress and pressure off of the bride-to-be.
  • Speech: Make a speech during the bridesmaids’ luncheon to show appreciation for the bridal party and to thank them for being a part of the wedding. Include a line such as, “Words cannot express my appreciation for the love and support you have shown me throughout the wedding planning process, and always.” Include funny stories in your speech and reminisce about the times you’ve shared.
  • Favors: Purchase favors specifically for the bridesmaids’ luncheon or hand out the bridesmaids’ gifts at this pre-wedding event. Simple ideas for favors include gourmet candy in mesh pouches or homemade baked goods.
  • Etiquette: Follow appropriate bridal luncheon etiquette and plan the luncheon based around the preferences of the bridesmaids. Invite all of the bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids to the luncheon. Extend invitations to the mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the groom as well. The bridesmaids’ luncheon is the one time the bride is the hostess, instead of the bridal party. Show appreciation for the bridesmaids throughout the event and cater to their needs.
At the end of the luncheon, invite the ladies to a spa, wine tasting, or a movie as a special surprise. Arrange the details in advance and continue to show appreciation with additional special treats!
