Halloween Cemetery Decorations

Exude Halloween spirit and turn your house into an eerie and spooky cemetery complete with Halloween cemetery decorations. Incorporate several types of decorations and Halloween yard displays such as tombstones, coffins and mummies to create the effect. Show off your creative abilities and make Halloween tombstones yourself and purchase a number of Halloween graveyard props such as bags of bones and skulls to sprinkle around the yard. You can even bury half of the bones in the yard!
Here are some other ideas for Halloween cemetery decorations that you can use to create a chilling scene:
  • Tombstones: Decorate your Halloween graveyard with homemade Halloween tombstones. Purchase styrofoam from your local crafts store and draw the outline of the tombstone. Create an arch at the top and two straight sides and cut. Purchase stone textured paint and use a paint brush to paint the tombstone. Use a rotary tool to carve a name on the tombstone. Fill in the name with black paint and spray the tombstone with acrylic sealer to waterproof it for outdoor cemetery decorations.
  • Mummies: Shock your trick-or-treaters and send a “live” mummy to the door with candy. Recruit a family member to play the role for the evening. Rent a mummy costume from your local costume rental store or make one yourself with rolls of toilet paper, white ace bandages or rolls of gauze.
  • Coffins: Cover the lawn in a multitude of coffins. Make the coffins with pieces of wood from your local hardware store. Use four pieces of long, narrow wood for the top, bottom and sides. Use two smaller pieces for the ends. Purchase hinges for the coffin door to open. Paint the coffin with brown paint or decorate it with Halloween designs such as bats and ghosts. Use acrylic sealer to waterproof the wood.
Leave Halloween party guests and trick-or-treaters with a stellar impression of your decorating skills with Halloween graveyard props that will make them want to stay all night!
