Halloween Ghost Costumes

Halloween ghost costumes are easy but timeless Halloween costumes. Ghost costumes are perfect whenever you need to throw something together quickly for a costume party. Of course, ghost Halloween costumes can also be quite elaborate, it all depends on your needs!
If you want to dress yourself or your child up as a ghoul, here are a few Halloween ghost costume ideas to get you started:

  • Sheet ghost: This classic idea is always an option for a quick costume. All you need is a white sheet or large piece of white cloth and some scissors. Then, just drape the cloth over your head and use a pen to gently mark where your eyes sit under the fabric. Next, take the cloth off and cut holes to see out of. This whole process should only take a minute! If you have some extra time, cut jagged lines where your arms are for a spooky effect. This makes a great kids ghost costume, too!
  • Toddler ghost Halloween costume: For toddler-sized versions of the standard ghost costumes, replace sheets with pillow cases. First, grab a white pillow case. Next, cut slits towards the top for the eyes and mouth. Then cut holes toward the top of the sides of the pillow case that are large enough for arms to fit through. Another option is to dress your toddler in a white onesie. As you come up with your toddler’s costume, go for a cute outfit and make sure to stay away from anything that’s too scary!
  • Family of ghosts: A great idea is for each member of the family to dress up as a ghost to create a family of ghosts. If not everyone wants to wear white, let each family member pick a different color. This way, each of you can add your own creative twist to the group costume.
  • Wear white: Another simple ghost Halloween costume is an all-white outfit. If you want to kick the creativity up a notch, find some torn or tattered white clothing at a local vintage shop (or use something old if you have it lying around). Then, find some white face paint and you’ll look like a very pale, scary ghost!
  • Scary ghost costume: For an extra-creepy effect, paint your face and body white and dress up in dark clothes (or use the “sheet ghost” procedure with a white cloth instead). Make sure to cut some jagged sleeves for an extra-spooky effect.
This Halloween, you won’t need to spend a lot of effort to create great ghost Halloween costumes. For more ghost costumes for kids, try letting them decide! Give them a sheet, some markers and fabric glue and allow them to be creative. Just make sure you help them cut the cloth!
