Halloween Ghost Decorations

Halloween ghost decorations are a fantastic way to make your home look spooky for the holidays. Ghost decorations for Halloween can be quick and easy because they are generally simple to make.

If you are interested in making Halloween ghost crafts, take a look at the ideas below. You’ll find ghost decorating ideas for both indoors and outdoors!

  • Tissue paper: For fast ghost Halloween decorations, gather a few large pieces of tissue paper. Then, crumple the top into a round shape to create the head. Where the head stops, cinch the tissue paper together and tie it tightly with a string to hold it in place (the neck). Flag the remaining tissue paper out towards the bottom to create the spooky, flowing part of the ghost. Finally, draw eyes and a mouth on the head. These decorations are quick and can be made in a variety of colors and sizes, depending on your needs. Because they are so light, you can use tape to stick them to walls or windows.
  • Cloth: Ghosts made out of fabric or cloth are always great, and there are several ways you can go about making them. Using tissue paper, you can stuff the “heads” and repeat the process described above. Take the cloth ghosts to the next level by using sticks to create arms. All you need to do is attach sticks (or something similar) to the tied neck part. Arrange the cloth over the sticks and it will look like your ghost is flying!
  • Dancing lawn ghosts: To create ghosts for your lawn, arrange a few medium-length sticks (about 2-3) on a space in the lawn close together but far enough apart so that they create enough width for your ghost’s “body.” Then, just drape cloth over them and draw on the face! Repeat this as many times as you like and feel free to create different arrangements! For the “dancing” effect, arrange the ghosts in a circle and use the “arms” trick described above to make it look like the ghosts are dancing together in a circle.
  • Ghost stickers and posters: Another option is to simply buy ghost wall or window stickers and posters at your local party store. These are great to hang on windows, doors and walls outside of your house. You can also have fun and create your own with some poster board and permanent markers. If you live in a windy area, use foam board because it is more durable.
  • Balloon ghosts: Create a Halloween ghost decoration made out of balloons. One option is to buy helium balloons at party stores that come in ghostly shapes. If you wanted to get a little craftier, try blowing up white balloons and drawing or painting faces on them. For a cute ghost, attach white cotton balls to the balloon to add a little texture.
  • Pumpkin ghosts: Spray paint pumpkins to look like ghosts for a funny effect. First, choose any-sized pumpkin and spray paint it with white paint. After the paint has dried, carve a ghost’s face into it. To achieve this ghoulish effect, carve out wide, oval-shaped eyes and a gaping mouth. Talk about spooky!

All of these ghost decorations will make terrific additions to your Halloween decor. Whether you choose to hang them up or put them outside your doorstep, your home will be instantly transformed into a graveyard!
